A separation is a high voltage drama, I've never seen anything like that before or after.. then About Elly, something different from iranian films ive seen before..i dont know how much "the past" can connect with european audience. Its more Iranian than French.

I liked A Separation a lot. For me it is A separation followed by About Elly followed by The Past.
All three are good movies on their own though....

The Past was one of the 15 or so best films released in the U.S. 2013. That's a huge gap in quality, but the latter is still a formidable achievement.

For English speakers, there is no way to see About Elly or his previous films. If Criterion were to get those, subtitle them, and put out a box set, I think I wouldn't be the only person to be all over that as if it were a chicken kabob with shirin polo and mast o khiar.
