Dvd?

I am only seeing release for blu ray anything about a dvd release?

reply

Same question. I can only find blu ray and digital copies available for pre order.
Why not just dvd?

reply

Apparently, there are no plans "for now" to release it on DVD... which I find a bit shocking! :(

reply

It was released on Itunes yesterday. That is where I purchased it.

I almost never buy dvd's anymore.

reply

The DVD is on pre-order at Amazon UK.

reply

Frig. UK DVD's won't play on US/Can dvd players.

Why can't they just release the dvd along with bluray? :(

reply

It's a shame, but Blu-Rays are nowadays considered to be more important than DVDs, particularly in the US. In the UK new releases come in both formats, though I'm sure that will change.

reply

They are trying to push us into Blu-Rays in the US, but most movies and TV show sets come in both formats. The fact they are excluding DVD entirely is quite annoying.

reply

Buy a DVD player that can play all regions and converts PAL (UK) format to American format!

I have owned nothing but players of this sort, so I don't worry about regional locks, or PAL formatted disks! They've come way down in price. It is not unusual for a movie to be in print overseas but not in the US (like Charlton Heston's magnificent 'Warlord') but with one of these players, you can watch the world.

A good player convert automatically--you will not have to do more than insert a disk.

I've ordered machines from the same place in Chicago as gifts for people, and they have all been happy with them.

reply

Don't confuse people.

The DVD players of that sort don't convert anything at all. The video remains untouched - the same as it was, because no need for that and those magnificent devices just can play both NTCS and PAL formats for TV. And any region people invented for different countries too.

I just went to Target to purchase the dvd it was only in Blu-ray sometimes the Blu-ray has 2 disc but this one only had 1 disc.

From the looks of it redbox is actually getting this movie in DVD format to rent if you look at the Coming Soon section of their website. I don't know if it will switch to Blu-Ray once it actually comes out but for now it says it's coming out on DVD on September 23, 2014. So I wonder why it's available to rent but not buy? Hopefully this will lead to being able to buy for those of you who just want a DVD. I understand wanting just a DVD and I sympathize with you guys just wanting those and not a Blu-Ray only. I hate this Blu-Ray only thing and am shocked and frankly infuriated to think companies would only release a movie on Blu-Ray and zero DVD at all. The DisneyNature documentary Bears was released on a Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack but only that and no single disc DVD release. Makes me very mad. I don't need a Blu-Ray, don't want a Blu-Ray, I don't have a Blu-Ray player in the first place and I hate those square cases for Blu-Rays movies.

reply

I just watched it on DVD from my public library. In the USA.

It's an exclusive Wal-Mart only DVD apparently. Check out their website, it's $14.96 in stores but $22 something online. I just saw it at my local Wal-Mart. So it's somewhat available. I would think Fox Searchlight Pictures is still a plenty lucrative enough company and I can't imagine why they can't release a movie on DVD everywhere. But okay then. lol Same with Disney Nature for cryin' out loud!

I checked amazon again, and it's finally being released on dvd - dirt cheap in Canada at least: http://www.amazon.ca/Belle-Bilingual-%C2%A0Gugu-Mbatha-Raw/dp/B00Q3F0KFG/

I haven't seen in the US Amazon, but if you don't mind a bilingual copy, Americans can buy off of the Canadian amazon without problem.
