I really enjoyed this, but... how come he didn't wash his trainers as well as his clothes? A quick squirt with the garden hose would have done it.

And why didn't he go off his nut when his folks, on two separate occasions, completely trashed his room? It wasn't even explained what they were looking for. (I know, Ben found that phone, but why was he in there in the first place?)

Just a couple of minor plot holes, maybe. I thought it was really well acted though.

I had the same questions. About the trainers, well, they are kind of the McGuffin and the whole mystery centers on them. So I'll cut the writer some slack on those. Unless you see them, along with the phone, as gruesome trophies that the murderer couldn't bear to part with.
