Sebastian finds an empty pill packet that is identical to the pill that his wife gave him to give their daughter. He never gave it to her that morning, but somehow she took one anyway. That's how he knows that his wife is involved. How else would their daughter have gotten her pill? Clearly, she must've told her mom that dad forgot so her mom arranged for her to get another one.
