The presenter/host was distracting and annoying

The presenter was a major distraction and ground the thing to a halt every time she was onscreen. She seemed to be in love with herself and couldn't wait to show everyone how sexy she is. It really took away from the documentary and felt completely unnecessary. I would've liked it if they spent less screen time on her and, instead, used that time for something more substantial, like a longer history of sex in comics (you know, the thing the documentary is named after). Instead we got a measly 60 seconds that basically just said "Tijuana bible."

This was quite a disappointing watch, but a fun watch nonetheless. That presenter was just so overused.

I couldn't agree more. There was an extend "scene" of her imposed on old WWII footage acting like a pin-up girl while taking about a subject, instead of showing images truly relevant to the topic. That may have even been the Tijuana Bible bit you mentioned.

What bothered me the most, however, was her giving opinions on other artists' work. For instance, when she said something to the effect of: "I adore Manara. But come on, isn't that just the same girl with different hair?" This line was less than ten minutes into the film and was spoken almost immediately after establishing Milo Manara as the undisputed master. Not only was it unprofessional, but highly misrepresentative. Because that criticism can be leveled against a lot of black and white art comic art--which, by it's very nature, is drawn quickly and without a ton of detail (typically).

So yeah, moderately interesting documentary. I definitely enjoyed hearing from the artists themselves. But whoever made the executive decision to impose this narrator onto stock footage and have her give critiques of the artists mentioned was a mistake. The documentary was not about the narrator or her opinions, and it made the whole film sloppy and unfocused. Which is sad, because this is a topic worth exploring and it had much potential.

Yes! Holy crap absolutely. It totally ruined the documentary for me. It was so insanely necessary and unbelievably obnoxious
