Why are all horror characters stupid ?

I think the story had potential but it was ruined. First of all, why do horror movies characters have to be so stupid? Why did this girl (Anna) , when she could have just pretended to be asleep and untie herself after Elisa would have fallen asleep again chose to untie herself and go around the house when Elisa had a rage attack after she killed her mother. Any person in her right mind would have waited till a right moment to escape. Where is the logic in making a crazy person even more angry when you are tied to a bed and the crazy one is walking freely. I think it would have been far more interesting if she would have tried to communicate with Elisa and gain her trust until finding a good moment to escape. It would have been possible in this way to also reveal more about Elisa, because except the fact that she had mental problems we didn't know anything about her, even though the movie was named after her. A horror movie doesn't have to be always a slaughter to be scary.

reply

Maybe she was panicked and could only think about immediate escape. I don't think there was any way she could have communicated with Elisa even if Ana was able to speak. Elisa had such an extremely limited view of existence that I doubt she would have ever listened to or trusted Ana. I do think the movie could have been longer for more development on all fronts.

Passion is just insanity in a cashmere sweater!

I hate how she called her boyfriend instead of the police. So dumb.

reply

And that would have been more useful how? She couldn't speak at the time she called. She should have sent a message to her bf explaining the situation so he could go to the police or try to find her earlier.

They would've called back and if she didn't answer (or if weirdo girl answered and said they same things she said to the boyfriend "shes being punished") they would send the cops. The cops can track the location, her boyfriend cant. You can also text the police in some places.

reply

Ok, you've got a point, coming from a "developing" country where police would most likely don't care at all to track a call or would be there after 34342 hours I didn't consider this. I still think texting the boyfriend saying what was happening was another viable option since he could take that as evidence

Good point, I never considered how different the police can be other countries and plus the movie is fiction so the police can be however the writer(s) want.

i was beyond stupid. at first i was hoping she get away, but after a long chain of stupid ass decision i just wanted her to die. the movie was more irritating than horrific.

like she opted to hit her with a crucifix? she has a hammer right between her legs a few minutes prior. and why is it so hard to make sure the bad guy wont get up again? anna had already gone through this once in the bathroom when she left lisa unconscious and then does the same stupid mistake again. i'm glad she's dead.

reply

I can forgive a lot of stupid stuff in horror movies (otherwise most of them would be over in like 10 minutes!), and most of what has been mentioned here didn't bother me all that much, but The one thing I find unforgivable is not taking out your attacker when given the chance. You simply DO NOT let them get back up!

reply

Agreed. Ana had two opportunities to kill off Elise after knocking her unconscious. The one thing I've learned from these movies is that if you have the chance, you make certain your assailant is dead, dead, dead. I would have spent a good half hour hammering that girl's head in until her head was cracked wide open and I took out most of her brain.
