I wonder if others hate this one thing in movies as much as I do.

The vomit scene. That's right, the need to have a vomit scene in so many movies today. Have you ever been so upset that you have vomited? I never have...not once in by life. If "It's a Wonderful Life" was made today, they would probably have George Bailey puking his guts out. I just don't get it. Is this the mark of good film making today? And don't get me going at that sing-songy music that they play at the end of an episode of so many television shows (now that makes me want to vomit.)

I didn't get it either. One usually vomits when sick or nervous, not when... sad :/

I'm a tad ambivalent about the scene as well. I watched this film for the first time over the weekend there and when I saw the vomiting scene I too felt that it seemed slightly incongruous with the movie, and a somewhat unnecessary scene; I didn't think it was ridiculous, over-the-top, or a superfluous scene -- just a tiny bit unexpected and out of place. However, on reflection, I think it's also quite a powerful scene, as it unequivocally reveals how deeply Therese had fallen for Carol and her initial shock when she found out that Carol was leaving her; I personally have never vomited due to shock, but I suppose the inclusion of the scene was to represent and reinforce the idea that love is all-encompassing and all-consuming. These are just my initial thoughts after having just watched the movie for the first time over the weekend there.

Uh.... sorry but I have known many people who get sick and throw up when broken hearted. It really is not so unusual.
