OT: has anybody here seen LOSING CHASE (1996)?

Due to the recommendations thread I made a few days ago, I know at least one person here has seen Losing Chase (1996) and didn't care for it. But, I'm curious as to whether anyone else has seen the film, because it has now become my number one favorite movie.

I think it's a wonderful film, and if anyone else would like to see it, here it is on YouTube:

Or, if you'd like a quick look at the film before watching the whole thing, there's a tribute video somebody made of it which is very beautiful and shows how heartfelt the movie is:

Anyone who watches the film or has seen it already, I'd love to hear your thoughts– especially how you think it ranks against other lesbian romances.

Happy viewing! :-)

I started to watch it and I have to admit I got a bit bored. :(

Well, I would suggest to at least watch the tribute video if you don't feel like watching the whole film – because it's just one of those music video tributes that give you a good taste of what the movies like, using scenes from the film along with the song. It's very lovely.

I saw it through Netflix years ago and didn't like it. I don't consider Losing Chase a lesbian film just because one female in the mix is a lesbian. I wouldn't call it a lesbian love story since Elizabeth (Kyra Sedgwick) was not on the same lesbian attraction plane as Chase (Helen Mirren).

Carol, on the other hand, is a lesbian love story. Carol was drawn to Therese and Therese was drawn to Carol. One didn't decline the other's attraction towards her. Someone else in a personal review of Carol said it better: they found themselves in each other.

My favorite lesbian genre films:

1. Carol
2. Desert Hearts
3. Aimee & Jaguar

I've seen just about all the ones that are included in "best of" and "top" lesbian films lists.

Your problem is that you keep limiting romance to lust alone---ignoring the fact that romance is as much about love and profound respect as it is about a longing for physical intimacy. Hence, LOSING CHASE was a lesbian romance, even if it wasn't about lust for both of the women---if at least one of them felt it, it's a romance for her nonetheless. And I don't know WHY that is so difficult for you and others to understand!

Carol, on the other hand, is a lesbian love story. Carol was drawn to Therese and Therese was drawn to Carol. One didn't decline the other's attraction towards her.
You REALLY have trouble distinguishing between love and lust, don't you? CAROL is a lesbian LUST story that grew into love, whereas LOSING CHASE is a woman's story that then grew into a LOVE story that then grew into lust (a physical attraction/passion). Therefore, they both qualify as romances, but LOSING CHASE was more slow-blooming. That's the difference.

This beautiful video tribute will probably jog your memory:

It's I think what made me decide to watch the whole movie, and I'm so glad I did, as I now have a better idea of what my true top-10 fave films are---and this is certainly one of them (top of the list) 😃
