Character Opinions: Nicola??

Hello everyone. Today I want to ask about one of the characters of the show that I liked the least, Justin's (My favorite Character in the show) ex wife, Nicola. I admit, I didn't watch ALL of the episodes she was in, but the ones I saw left me thinking she was a bitter, overvindictive, slightly dramatic person who made judgments based on her own hurt feelings.

I get it, when Justin was a football star, he was a neglectful, and wild party boy that gave her every reason to leave, she had the right to be resentful, but,in my opinion, she took it way too far and was a worse person than the guy could have ever been. Every scene I saw between the two exes may have been equivalent to watching her kick a dog while he's begging for bone.

While Justin made various mistakes before and after the show, he always chose to take responsibilty, and at least try to do the right thing.
1. According to the Bio he had his kids out of wedlock with the woman, then decided to marry her and provide for them, while most men in that position probably would have settled with throwing checks at them once a month.
2. Also, throughout the series he did everything possible to try to make up for his past with her. He sold his house, gave up a chance to revive his footy career, gave up the chance to expose the backstabbing, manipulative, jerk she was dating for her own sake, and endured her stubborn resentment, and verbal abuse.
3. All she did through the season was cling to her grudges, ignored all the changes/sacrifices he made, flaunted the fact that she was dating the aforementioned jerk, who was Justin's manager/father figure, while kicking dirt in his face.

With all this said, I was shocked when the writers of this show decided to have her suddenly fall back in love with Justin, have Justin break up with the more well rounded girl, and restart their relationship. It's possible that they only did this so Justin would get custody of the kids, but It's also possible that they realized they messed up story wise, and decided to kill her off as a quick fix, something that I am glad they did. My only regret is that they didn't give the ex manager any comeuppance.
