The dumbest line users say ...

This particular line that IMDb users always seem to say "Hollywood should take a page from this (your country here) little gem" LMAO.. That little line always makes me laugh. In this case it's Joel Edgerton in an Australian film (again) that is mediocre at best.
It's like you get a little film that comes out from somewhere that isn't particular any good and the people from the country come out of the wood work and say that "if only hollywood were doing these films" lol at that as well. Hollywood has done a ton of these silly films and most of what people say they should be doing 100 times.
This particular film wasn't good at all and I'm glad they don't make films like this !!
It's no "Animal Kingdom" which was super overrated IMO anyway and I don't get the great user reviews.
One more thing about Australian films more than any other ones... You can barely understand WTF they are saying half the time. I'd rather watch a KOREAN film with subtitles anyday plus they make way better movies than "down under".

THERES NO ROOM IN MY CIRCUS TENT FOR YOU !!!!

Idk if you've seen Starred Up (2013) but that's one of few films I needed subtitles. Couldn't understand a lick

Being from Sydney myself, even I have trouble understanding the dialogue in a lot of Aussie flicks. We're either mumbling or not articulating the sound of the words properly. It's definitely worse in movies than it is in real life, but Americans and Brits definitely pronounce their words more clearly and concisely.
You're right about the whiners who say Hollywood should do more stuff like this, which is just *beep* The quality of this flick was equivalent to budget Australian TV circa 1995. And the implication that this is a character-driven drama is just delusional. Having a bunch of characters with hurt feelings doesn't make them three dimensional -- all the characters were one and maybe two dimensional at best. Adding to my complaints, I thought the cinematography was lame, with extremely amateurish shot selection throughout.
And yes "Animal Kingdom" was way overrated. Had it been an American film, it wouldn't have even registered on the radar of fine films. The accolades it received were basically a pat on the head, saying, "Well done Australians, you made a half-decent genre flick."
Hollywood is the Dream Factory. They don't always get it right, and they're hogtied by corporate interests and sensibilities, but enough of their movies manage to escape the constraints to prove that nobody does it better.

Nicely done. A dozen lines to simply post that you don't like Australian films because you think they're "mediocre", you don't understand them and you seem to be surprised that Joel Edgerton (an Australian) is in another Australian film (LOL!). It's OK. When you grow up, things may be come a little clearer for you.🐭
