Only ONE carrier?

How come they had to rebuild new ships? There's no indication that the US fleet was destroyed in the previous seasons. The russian admiral destroyed the European fleet in season 1 . As for the US, the men died and they needed time to train new crews. Unless I missed something.

Logic does not work for this show. Don't forget the virus hacked totally isolated systems that are never connected to the Internet. Also, there were no fighters doing CAP above the fleet, and even if their missile targeting computers were fried by the virus, their cannons would still be fully operational.
