"It's quiet out there... too quiet" has been used dozens, if not hundreds of times in TV and movies going back to the 1930s. Could be even older in literature!

I kinda like that the show is so unabashedly corny that it takes that line and plays it straight.

Indeed. Even though I rolled my eyes at that line, I love the show so damn much that I can forgive the corny stuff. And Chandler played it so straight too. I love these guys.

They do pull it off pretty well. Tex has some pretty cornball lines too.
