I've stopped looking for consistency in TV

It's just not there, and I suspend disbelief and move on.
That doesn't mean I don't wonder WTF?
When last we saw Chandler's family, Kara was packing them off with her mom and baby. Chandler Sr. is killed and the kids kidnapped, but Kara's mom is nowhere in that scenario?

They mentioned earlier in the episode that they were no longer together.

She was sending her own baby away, not Chandler's family...
