Why did Hanley send Devereux to Moscow?

Also why did the CIA kill Natalya in Moscow?

reply

I have no idea why Hanley send Devereux, it might of been explained but I missed it. As for why the killed Natalya it's because the felt extracting her was no longer an option and they didn't want her to fall into the Russian's hands with all her info.

but based on that scenario, Hanley simply could have told Federov that Natayla was a mole. And simply eliminate her rather than pull off that crazy scheme of having 2 extraction plans. Hanley would want her dead, the same as Federov. Unless they thought she could lead them to Mirapova somehow????

reply

Yes, Hanley needed to find out what Natalia had discovered without the rest of the CIA knowing about it. And he was not involved in killing Natalia - that was Weinstein's decision.

Take my advice or I'll spank you without pants!

thanks that makes more sense.

Hanley: I'll send Peter, unnoficially and without the knowledge of the rest of the CIA, to extract Natalya, bring her to me, know what she knows, then kill her. Maybe kill Peter too.

Without the intel, they couldn't know where to find Mira.

Weinstein killed Natalya when extraction was compromised by an unkown agent.

"That was a courtesy flush. I'm not actually done yet"

I'm still mystified as to Hanley's reason for calling Devereux "The November Man." Because that month usually marks the start of winter; hence, everything dying from the cold? Or simply because Devereux turns all his assignments into turkey shoots?
