Edgar's 'Look'

It's a classic Grade-B detective show and thus it's all about the character-chemistry and that works well enough to make it well worth watching and hope for a Season 2.

As do so many people I too adore Edgar, but a question: I get they're going for an autistic-spectrum-geek thing with him, but usually when they give someone so stylized a "look" it's done to tell a character actor's story without saying a word, e.g. Penelope on Criminal Minds or throwing a beard and plaid shirt on a guy to short-cut hipster.

So what exactly are they going for with Edgar's "look?"

Anyone? Everyone?
