Had the pleasure of seeing this gritty and funny film last night in Toronto.

It's IN YOUR FACE from the start, with a sprinkling of tender moments, and a bit of a lag near the finish. But it has all the unapologetic, tacky, vulgar loud, scumbag glory of Dom Hemingway throughout. It's refreshing to see someone so wrong with a joie de vivre.

After several serious films (Prisoners, Mandela, etc) this film was a nice finish to my TIFF 2013.

Not for prudes or those allergic to tacky.

I saw the second screening and absolutely loved it! Bonus was the highly entertaining Q&A from Mr Shepard and the cast. Hope The Academy can get over the constant cursing. Jude deserves an Oscar for this tour de force role.

Hey Miss - you're right, Mr. Shepard was a scream!

As amazing as Jude was, I don't think he'll get an Oscar nomination for this mainly because he has stiff competition this year.

All the buzz at TIFF was about Matthew McConnaughy in Dallas Buyers Club and I'm sure Chewitel Ejiofor will get a nomination for 12 Years a Slave. And because the film was so vulgar and sometimes ridiculous but lacking a really really deep emotional pull (it got close), I don't think it quite measures up.

This film is distinctly British, so he might be a shoo in for a BAFTA.

I've heard comparisons to Refn's Bronson with this movie. Which has me so excited.

Hey, Sooz, I just came home from the free screening of the People's Choice Award Winner, "12 Years A Slave" and I've got to give the Oscar to Chiwetel Ejiofor. But I sure hope Jude gets a nom! I also loved "Labor Day", so I'll spread my Oscar love with that cast. Wish I were actually a member of the Academy!!!

How about Emília Clarke? Big fan of her in GoT, is she good in this?

Emilia Clarke is absolutely wonderful in "Dom Hemingway". I don't watch GoT, so she was a new face to me. Really impressive.
