Chronology

The movie seems to be set in the present day (or around 2013). An example of this is that they're not supposed to smoke in the pub. Dom and Dickie seem to be dressed in a late 70s style, but everyone else looks contemporary.

The other thing is that Dom was working for Fontaine before he went to jail, and the rise of the Russian mafia came after the collapse of the USSR in 1991.

We know that Dom went to jail for 12 years. This would mean that he went in around 2000. So how come he has never dealt with electronic safes?
