Why didnt the mom remarry?

You missed the whole plot and point of the movie and got swept up in the celebrity that Christina Hendricks is.

1. The mother had four kids.
2. No money
3. Land she couldn't manage
4. Abusive ex.

(Not many men are going to bare that cross) Plain and simple.

A more appropriate question would be: why didn't mom offer sex for money? Not many men would take four kids and a violent ex husband. But a quick sex with a pretty woman - why not.
