What was Libby's motivation for her story at trial? Spoilers!

Sorry if I missed it, but why did she lie and tell the police she saw him do it? I could see how she might have convinced herself of that if she hadn't' seen him in the shed and he helped her stay hidden.

Not sure I understand her motives there.
