Fake Stratocaster

Forget not using Jimi's music - they couldn't even use a real Fender? What's up with that?

But it's easy to get a strat style neck without a Fender logo, or just cover up/sand off the name like most movies do. Looks like they just carelessly used a cheap knock off. The headstock was way off. Shame, since they couldn't use his music they could have least gotten such an iconic part of his look right.

The first one looks like a jazzmaster with a blank 50s style strat headstock instead of the bigger, curvier ones they had - that neck should have been on Jimi's strat.

Instead, the strat's got this weird semi Washburn Nuno looking headstock

The flying V looks okay to me, even has what looks like a Gibson logo

Lol, at that Buddy Holly pic. He really was ahead of his time, since that headstock wasn't made until about a decade after he died. They get points for using a real strat, though :-D

They screwed up the drum sets too, which use big, beefy modern hardware and even late 70s and 80s style deep toms. Back in those days guys who wanted to beef up hardware on Ludwig and Gretsch kits used Rogers "Swiv-o-Matic" and Samson hardware. My old round badge Gretsch kit was beefed up with Rogers stuff.

When I saw the Experience, Hendix played a Flying V for one song, Red House. The rest he used a Stratocaster. He used two Marshalls and one Sunn. Redding was playing a Jazz Bass with two Sunn heads and six Sunn bottoms, the bottoms that used twin JBL 15s. Mitchell was playing a silver sparkle Ludwig kit, 5 piece with two floor toms; kind of a Buddy Rich set up.

i noticed that too. they had no problem showing gibson guitars and logos. marshall too, for that matter. my guess is that the hendrix estate has an endorsement deal with fender and that the stratocaster in particular is part of that deal, which means that the distinctive scroll headstock is copyrighted and couldn't be used. honestly, this bothered me much more than not hearing his own songs. other than that, i thought it was a pretty decent flick. i thought andre benjamin did an excellent job.
