Did anyone else see some similarities to "Mystic River"?
Although I know this movie should not even be compared to the movie "Mystic River" in terms of plot, acting and production, but i can't help but see some slight similarities to it.
**Spoiler Alerts**
-"Rage's" three friends with a criminal past share a deep, dark secret compared to "Mystic River's" three friends who share a tragic past. (Similarity Ends)
-Daughter of one of the friends is murdered.
-Father of murdered daughter is a reformed criminal.
-Mistaken identity abounds: Nicolas Cage's character, along with his friends, go on a killing spree to find out who killed his daughter, whereas Sean Penn's character mistakenly identifies his friend as his daughter's murderer, and subsequently murders him. (Note: NC still ends up killing his friend because NC believes he's a rat, and unwittingly causes the murder of NC's daughter.)
-Tragic climatic moment where the main characters, and the audience, discovers the daughter's murder was much further from the truth: NC's character discovers that the daughter's friends accidentally shot her with one of NC's gun, whereas Kevin Bacon's character discovers the daughter's boyfriend's brother and friend killed her.
Again, i know that these two movies are nothing alike, but i just couldn't help but see some similarities, however slight, within them. I welcome your opinions and/or arguments.
