I think letting him live with the constant thought of what he did was a better punishment. He said that he loved her intensely and that it was an accident. So if he really did feel that way about her then that is the most just punishment to just carry that memory to the grave.

I think Glovers words may have rang in the back of his mind; but he also could relate. He was a dumb teen who screwed up himself and killed a man and then tried to cover it up. Mirror image of a flashback...
shareI agree with you. Especially considering the father was more than willing to kill all those people just to get the attention of someone that might know who killed his daughter, but then didn't kill the actual person responsible.
Sure it was an accident, but an accident brought on by underage drinking and stupidity. Add the fact they both tried to cover it up and make it look like a mob hit instead of it being an accident.
If his daughter was killed by a drunk driver I doubt he would forgive him because it was an accident.

Exactly. The accident while an accident is still very serious and he would understandable have to do some jailtime over it but the lying and staging a crime to cover up what really happened is completely deplorable and as bad as if he had meant to shoot her.
