Ambitious Failure?

There is a relatively interesting idea behind this story and the cast is interesting. But the end film is mostly shot-em-up by the numbers. Maybe that is inevitable? Maybe there is a better film on the cutting room floor? Probably several more maybes but there you go - just one of those films that didn't really work.
