David Garrett's first role a bit ambitious?

Lord knows the man can play the hell off the violin, but is he ready to be an actor? Especially since this movie will really be centered on him - it's not just a cameo or supporting role. I really want him to do well, but I'm a bit wary of the whole situation. Please prove me wrong, David!

I'll go for the eye candy and the music if nothing else...having a star who can actually PLAY the violin (instead of casting a "violin double" as has been done in films like The Red Violin) will make a HUGE difference in on-screen authenticity (playing the violin a la Paganini...maybe less so)...and damn, David looks fine with dark hair!

He's been in front of audiences since childhood and has done professional modeling...he sure knows how to romance the lens and has an exuberant personality from the many interviews I've seen, so I'm guessing he'll be able to pull it off.

I am from Turin, Italy, and I love Niccolò Paganini. I am doubly pleased that some of the shooting were filmed in the city where I live, as well as the title role has been entrusted to a true violinist. I'm rooting for David and for this movie!

David's natural hair color is dark brown, and while I enjoy the blond look, I agree that he looks great with dark hair. IMO, the blond treatment is unnecessary.

I haven't watched the movie yet, just had a glimpse, but eye candy is the right word!!

There was lots I didn't like about it, the story they focused on, the Devil-like character, his love interest, on and on. And he was the weakest link unfortunately. He was sufficiently present and animated while playing but dead space in all other scenes, vocal delivery awful.

If I had been directing I would have had him play his fiddle before every scene, wind him up as it were, then roll the cameras.

He was lovely to look at and the production values were top notch.

I thought he played his character very well. Pagannini was a shallow man with enormous talent. People saw what they wanted and believed the ridiculous.

David Garrett´s role was believable and done very well.
The storyline was a little sparsely done with fiction throughout.

I enjoyed the music and charm he portrayed onscreen.

His American accent destroyed the character.

Agreed, though I think you're being generous calling that accent American. It lapsed frequently into a German accent and then he'd seem to try bad Italian for a while and give up on that. It was a complete mess and really distracted from the movie. As did the bad direction, all those quick cuts back and forth at the beginning of the film made it look like MTV. Just awful.
