wtf was the point of the excema

i was half waiting for a tube of excema cream to show up at the crime scene.

aside from being a nuisance for stone, it really served zero purpose- unless im missing something?

it didnt define his character. it didnt effect the plot.

why even include it? allergies and the cat would have been plenty.

reply

Imho it was to pad the story out to 8 episodes, can't see any other reason for it really.

reply

Well you're an eejit

To relate a coincidence similar to the murder. The cat cured the eczema not the Chinese powder stuff. They just happened to coincide.

reply

what are you talking about? the cat did not cure his eczema.

read between the lines. There is a point.

care to share?

It's a delicate thing to explain. The writers did a great job with it. Re-watch or read Stone's closing arguments. Stone relates to Nas in a unique way. He's uses this relation to humanize Naz to the jury. When an attorney is able to humanize a defendant to a jury it makes the burden of reasonable doubt a big deal.

For writers, it's impossible to satisfy everyone.

If they omit this part, then a group of people will whine about how the character is one-dimensional, how the writing is so shallow, etc., and if they include this part, perhaps in order to give the character more depth and humanity, some insight into his everyday struggles which they think some people might find interesting, to show his flaws or perhaps just for comic relief, a group of people whine about how it serves no purpose, was filler material etc.

Regardless of what choices the writers make, a group of people will find a reason to whine about it.

I agree, I felt that the eczema was a terrible character trait for Stone. Not needed....nor wanted. Waaaayyyyyy TMI. >hurk< http://bassblaster.bassgold.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/TMI-meme-bass-fishing-160331.jpg

The flat-brimmed baseball cap is the modern-day dunce cap.

Person with eczema here.

First off, they blew the whole thing way out of proportion. It was just funny, but interesting to me since I (sort of) relate. The thing is that if you have eczema it will be attacking you from your childhood. By the time you're middle-aged you would have found some practical way to keep it at bay.

For me, I tried many different prescribed steroid creams, different concoctions and strengths... Nothing worked, I developed one particularly massive breakout on my leg that looked like a giant third degree burn & fish scales, peppered with scabs that broke every night (I scratched in my sleep). I have a big round scar on my leg from that breakout and I guess it'll be there for life.

After many tries and visits to different doctors, I finally got a cream that worked, in my early 20's. I've hung on to that ever since and it's worked on every potential new breakout.

Back on topic...

I think for his character it was just a way to give him a quirky personal health issue, making him feel a bit more "real" -- really, all it had to be was him getting stressed out, noticing a red patch developing and him applying the cream... Maybe the next day he checks the results (it would be very light pink and dying).

I dunno. TV man.

I enjoyed this character trait of his and thought they used it well, if a tad overdone for comedic effect.
