Cried like a baby watching this…

I was a teenager in the late ‘70’s and Richard Pryor and George Carlin were my favorite comedians. I saw every movie they were in and got to see them both live in concert. The live stand-up performances of both were unforgettable and it’s possible that I’ve never laughed that hard again in my life. Sitting around with my friends and listening to their albums, we would then repeat their bits endlessly. When Pryor’s stand-up movies were released we would see them 2 or 3 times. They will always both be legends to me.

While Carlin seemed to get angry and bitter as he got older, after a few bad movies Pryor just faded away. It wasn’t until years later I learned he had MS. He was so talented that it made his demise was all the more tragic.

Watching Omit the Logic brought back many memories and watching Pryor’s sad demise brought tears. He was a one of kind performer.

I can appreciate your feelings kaneforgov. Pryor is definitely one of the most influential comedians in my lifetime. Both directly and through the comics he influenced.

I was a child during Pryor's prime standup years but as an adult, I can appreciate the complexity and nuance of his acts. He's surely missed.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.
