The ending is kind of confusing me.

I know it's probably one of those times we're supposed to figure it out on our own, but i still at a loss as to the following:

When: cam realises he's in the sh!t and then makes up a plan with his 'loan sharks'

How: he makes said plan up with no phone whilst running for his life.

and in the heat of the moment we're supposed to believe 'the dea / undercover/corrupt ex bf of marie' didn't notice he was going in to china town.

On another note:

the chances of the gto being fixed up by the loan sharks and looking EXACTLY LIKE cams toy car ?

Some movies you have to watch more than once to get the story. I got a little confused about what Miller did to the mafia.

seemed like a deal went bad and people got killed/hurt/ they lost money.

It still makes no sense. Why would the Chinese let him off the hook after he tried robbing them and still not paying his debt? Just because he tricked the crooked fed into going in their territory after an agreement ? The Chinese said the cop wasn't allowed in their territory - that doesn't mean he has a debt or that they want him dead.

Even if the fed still owed them money, how do the Chinese figure it makes any financial sense at all to kill one guy who owes them money (even though he can get them money since he's pretty rich), and then let the other guy who owes them money off the hook? Either they need to take business classes or the Chinese mafia is much nicer than their executions in the news lead on.

Also, did Cam really push his luck and not only try to get his debt cleared, but ALSO ask to get his car back AFTER they poured thousands more into it? Yeah right, that makes sense for them to do.

The aspect of the car did not make sense at all. And why would the Tongs have anything much less an advantage on a Federal Agent to begin with. Nobody can really mess with a federal agent, not even the MOB at its most powerful. The GTO looked like it took a $30k restoration job to look and work that good which is twice the cost of the debt LOL.

The girl was a nice and unique every day pretty girl piece of ass. Her casting was a very good choice compared to the 'plastic surgery' fake girl look I can't stand.

reply

Well she had two nose jobs in real life, so she is sorta plastic , but the cast was very solid. I agree about the car. Took a lot of cash to make it look that good. I think there was more to the Miller and Tong storyline, but they did not get into it. Cam got his sorta happy ever after.

Funny you weren't saying that about Marie when she was'dating' TL 😜

Why would the Chinese let him off the hook after he tried robbing them and still not paying his debt? They didn't - Cam gave them a bag of diamonds.

The Chinese said the cop wasn't allowed in their territory - that doesn't mean he has a debt or that they want him dead.It probably does. He might not owe them anything, but he did agree to stay out of China town and he reneged on that agreement, so they will probably kill him.

Even if the fed still owed them money, how do the Chinese figure it makes any financial sense at all to kill one guy who owes them money (even though he can get them money since he's pretty rich),It's not about money, it's about reputation. If word gets out that the chinese let Miller off the hook, they may incur problems on the streets. It's a show of strength and power to teach Miller a lesson. and then let the other guy who owes them money off the hook? He gave them a bag of diamonds, his debt is paid

Either they need to take business classes I think they do ok for cash or the Chinese mafia is much nicer than their executions in the news lead on. Probably much worse than you can imagine

Also, did Cam really push his luck and not only try to get his debt cleared, but ALSO ask to get his car back AFTER they poured thousands more into it? If I remember correctly he had a deal with that Chinese dude to get the car back. The diamonds will have more than paid back the 10 grand he owed, that's why the head chinese lady threw him a diamond to keep

Yeah right, that makes sense for them to do. It's a fictitious film, deal with it

I was never one to hold grudges. My father held grudges, I'll always hate him for that

reply

cam never tried to steal from the chinese he was alway willing to pay with whatever he had. loan shark jerry was a reasonable guy to am extent.
cam set up the deal to deliver them diamonds, not miller. bagging miller was just an added bonus to cam. the chinese didnt kill miller/hatcher they merely deported him off to macau.

the bag of diamonds easily worth hundred times more than that restored car so why would the chinese care about giving it to him as part of the deal?
