Once Again

Once again the show does zero research on their topic. As a mom whose kid has had head lice here's how far off they are:

Not everyone in the house will get it. When my daughter had it, neither myself nor my husband did. Nor did the mom of her best friend who also had it.

Dogs and cats do not get lice. There was no reason to shampoo the dog. A physician would be well aware of this.

You comb (literally, nitpick) after you've killed the lice, not before. You also have to continue to comb and check for two weeks.

One shampoo treatment will not kill all the lice. You will have to either repeat the procedure a couple of times OR use the natural (but ultimately more effective) olive oil treatment every other night (or maybe every third night) for a month

Since Jackie had just been to the hairdresser's, she'd already know if she had lice. They would've told her while doing her Brazilian blowout.

All of this is information readily available online and reason #9999 that I continue to hate this show. But will drop by for the odd 10 minutes to hate watch.

Do you watch every show for realism? See a situational comedy takes situations and finds humor in them. Of course you don't go out after one lice treatment and of course you don't shampoo a dog, but there is a joke there!

And it's about time they "woke the dog up" for something and proved he kept his name.

No one cares about the details of lice. The dog with the shower cap was hilarious.

What kind of moron watches a show they hate? That's bull. You're watching and re-watching every second. You're lying about not liking it. You're just trying to get attention, but no one cares about you're stupid comments.

Intelligent "morons" who enjoy snarking on things are the ones who hate watch. What kind of moron fails to comprehend that?

If you're looking for some kind of inner sitcom logic, most of that stuff was done at the insistence of Diane, who's not always right (just thinks she is), and everybody usually winds up doing things her way, whether they want to or not.

She's a DOCTOR---she'd certainly know about lice (actually any mom does). And yes, for the amount of money spent on this show, I expect to see someone have an intern do 5 seconds of research if they're going to revolve an episode around it.

OTOH, ratings continue to suck, so it'll be gone soon enough.

There's no way that every mom knows about head lice treatment. Without having a child go through it before, why would they, unless they like to read up on and are prepared for every possible situation with their child?

Diane, as a doctor, should have more general knowledge about head lice than the average person, but your statement about "any mom" is pretty ridiculous. I grew up with two brothers and none of us ever had head lice that my parents had to deal with.

Except that in my experience, I got head lice from visiting my sister's place where she and her kids had lice and didn't even know it. I had been itching for like ever and not ever having had lice before, had no idea what the problem was. I even went to a dermatologist who looked at my head and didn't even see anything. I found them by accident in the shower. Then I did the whole treatment thing and I thought I'd gotten them from work sharing office chairs or something, and went to my sister's to visit and boom, got infested again. Finally found lice on her bathroom floor and put two and two together and went out and got 50 bucks worth of RID and lice combs and finally got rid of the things. But they can spread quite easily in a family and not every doctor can find them (freaking dermatologist looked right at my head and didn't see them!)

I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose.
Fire away, fire away.

lol congrats, Mom, you're an expert on head lice! Quick, get yourself hired by a tv show! Maybe then you'll have better things to do than post on boards of shows you hate, not to mention watch them.
