It's SATIRE people!

If you don't know David Wain and the style of films/shows he creates, you may be looking at this film all wrong. After reading some threads on here, some people are definitely out of the loop. This is very much a parody/satire on romcoms. If you don't know David Wain, check out "Wet Hot American Summer", "Wanderlust", or even "Childrens Hospital" from Adult Swim. They will give you a good idea of what to expect with this film.

Consider this a warning, if anything. I know some people will go into this film expecting just another romcom. Those elements will be there, but stamped with hardcore satire and slapstick. In the trailer alone, characters are pointing out the types of cliche characters they are. They're LITERALLY saying their personalities aloud.

For those who are fans of Wain... you excited? I know I am!

I was more irritated that they basically told us the entire story on the front page... sure, you can probably figure from a romcom that they'll get together, break up over something stupid, and get back together in the end, but to put it out there front and center... jeez.

Just another project of friends being friends and having fun. It's going to theaters, but also straight to VOD. It's very low budget and the only reason the bigger names are in there is because of friendship. Everyone wants to make enough money to survive, but I highly doubt money is a main focus with this film. Just friends having fun, continuing to give more to the cult following of Wet Hot American Summer.

He always gets a great cast.. and I LOVED Childrens Hospital and Role Models. But honestly Wanderlust was bad (to me) and not a huge fan of Wet Hot either. Sadly this movie, I don't know. maybe its the intentional part of the joke, but it feels like they feel they have to explain every single joke in the dialogue which kills the movie for me. Like the basketball scene they have to hammer home the point that "this is what they do in romantic comedies" where I think most people having seen the trailer, and laid down their money would know what they were getting into.

I loved this movie. I read all of the reviews and they were all bad - but I loved wanderlust and knew what I was getting into. This director has a particular flavor and style in the same way that Wes Anderson does. Everything from a "normal movie" is there but slightly off center. If you don't know what you are getting into, you could be in for a terrible time. This guy does it for me and I was not disappointed. It is AIRPLANE for Rom-Com films.

Loved the Norah Jones Video - groucho nose, gunshot at the end, and most of all Amy Poehler emerging from her "outfit montage" wearing a suit of armor.

I loved it too! I seriously had 2-3 ugly laugh-crying. The Christopher Meloni scene with the superhero costume on the floor of the bathroom? I had hiccups from the uncontrollable laughter.
