Why take the baby?

I mean this was necessary to make events unfold the way they did, but why did he choose to take the baby?

reply

I think I get it: the agent is not allowed to make significant changes to past events, except when it comes to the fizzle bomber. I get it, but I don't really get it.

reply

he is not supposed to chase the fizzle bomber because he is the fizzle bomber, but when his time machine fails to deactivate on his final jump he cant help himself. that is why they are puzzled how the fizzle bomber changes the date of the terrorist attack.

I am trying to get this silly movie out of my head, but I thought the baby, and all the rest of the characters were all him. So as he got older and understood what was happening he had to complete the circle?

reply

Yes they are all the same person. But I would that would be all the more reason not to take the baby, because taking the baby caused so much pain for his younger (female) self.

reply

He was boxed in, I think, he had changed things, so that if he did not take the baby it would disrupt time. The responsible thing to do I think, close the loop.

reply

Listen carefully to what Noah's characters says while they are in the hospital just before he takes the baby.

reply

To not make me rewatch the movie, what does he say that effects the kidnapping?

Was it the bit about Hawke getting a lethal injection if he acts outside his parameters?

reply

he says that he must steal the baby "to complete his mission" and from memory I think he implies that it closes the loop.
If he doesn't steal the baby and return it to the 50's he will not exist as he is a product of time travel being discovered.

OK, thanks!
