wow! my observation.

Wow. What a powerful and emotional movie. When i hear about the GLBT community fighting for equal rights and the right to marry and be accepted, this is who I imagine the fight is for. These 2 guys are discreet, masculine and just longing to have someone. Unfortunately, people like this, in small towns, suffer because the loud, brash, flamboyant, trashy, in your face gays are the face of the gay community. In a recent article the author asks "Why do people act flamboyant, loud, over the top", and answers the question himself, "WHY not? As gay pride month approaches, demand that you be accepted, just as you are." There in lies the problem. That small flamboyant out and proud group ruins it for the larger group that just wants to get along, be accepted, and left alone. These 2 guys can't have the lives they want, just like in Broke back Mountain. That's just my observation and my opinion, looking in from the outside.

I too love this movie and I agree with you that these are two good guys who are all the things you describe and more. You're down on the, in your words, "small flamboyant out and proud group that ruins it". While certainly not representative of the entire and very diverse gay population, it should not be forgotten that this group was in the vanguard of the gay rights movement and deserves a lot of the credit for creating a society where all GLBT people can be "accepted".

Just how do we "out and proud" guys spoil it for rural gays? And how do you define "masculine"? Quit trying to stereotype Gays - your statements about what is and isn't right are bitter, small minded and chauvinist.

And by the way, without the heavy lifting of those "out and loud" types movies like Pit Stop would not be being made.

While you're right that "average" working class gays are underrepresented in the media, that doesn't mean it's right for you to bash members of the gay community whom are different from you. It doesn't do anything but create division and also makes you sound insecure and bitter.
