Tough critics...

Wow, you guys are ridiculously tough critics. By reading all comments and one review, I decided to skim through the movie, so as not to burn my eyes out amd what I saw looked technically proficient. I won't waste my time watching it but it didn't look like the amateur hour garbage that I was expecting. I've seen so much worse and was relieved it wasn't "found footage." Found footage, Hunger Games and Twilight are killing the movie industry. Oh, I forgot to list Paranormal Activity as poisonous garbage too.

WoW, is right, in speaking of the ridiculous, over-the-top criticisms that this lil' film has gotten!

But, I've learned long ago not to trust the overly harsh critiques that horror movies receive from the many Joe-Blow's across this globe that spew their hateful opinions as if they're the gospel truth. Sad to say that many people are under the impression that their opinions and/or taste in horror movies is the end all, be all opinion of the masses..when clearly they're very, very wrong, but as we see that doesn't for one second keep them from logging onto imdb and blasting the hell out of horror movies that they've personally deemed as $hit! And if someone dares to reply with a different opinion than there's...well, then they start in with the blasting repeatedly those person's opinions as being "paid lackeys" from the cast/crew of the movie in question.

Ridiculous, and exactly the reason why I don't rely on their critiques as a reason to watch or don't watch a movie.

And I'm happy to say that I found "Lemon Tree Passage" to be a great lil' Aussie-indie horror flick. Is it a horror movie that will be long remembered and praised?.. No, but it had plenty of positives that not only held my attention throughout, but also delivered nearly an hour and a half of entertainment.

So, yea, I totally agree with the OP in the over the top harsh criticism of this movie not being warranted.

But to each their own.. I just say don't NOT give this movie a watch strictly due to those unwarranted harsh criticisms.. See for yourself.

Are you saying that your opinion (you liked it) is more valuable than a critical one?? I haven't seen anyone on here proclaiming it "the worst film ever!!" or anything melodramatic.

You know, it IS possible to think critically about the quality of a movie without being "hateful" or thinking you speak for the "masses."

You didn't even bother to say what you liked about it. So I will share what I disliked:
There was no real effort to tie the incidents together. The "teens" (I will use that loosely, as they looked 25) acted in odd, unrealistic ways. Bodies disappeared, never to be seen again. Who was actually killing the others? The ghost? The girl, while possessed? The roommate? It wasn't left open-ended, any explanation was literally just dropped.

There weren't any technical issues, and the acting was okay, I'll give it that. I thought the music fit the scenes really well, especially that creepy "Someone Behind You" song. I really can't go above a 4, though. Maybe a 5, if those issues had been addressed in any way.

They're coming to get you, Barbara!

I totally agree with the 2 posters above you - not just this board, but there is no question that imdb these days is infested with an epidemic of self-proclaimed, often pompous film-school wannabes who do nothing but armchair-quarterback every movie they download from the net.

You sound more reasonable.

Also, in my book, a rating for this film of 4-5 is a far cry from the 1-3's that others are randomly throwing about.

Honestly, IMHO, a film that is "technically proficient" to a layperson's eyes and ears should, at the least, get a 4-5.

This film was no masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination.

I found the movie totally watchable as a lower-budget indie film, given a reasonable amount of suspension of disbelief required for the horror/vengeful spirtis genre - I liked the slightly different take on the campfire/ghost story mythos and I was glad none of the lead characters were exceptionally annoying.

MOST IMPORTANT - THANK GOD IT WAS NOT ANOTHER FOUND FOOTAGE FLICK.

Will I remember this movie in a year? Doubtful.

But a worthless piece of dreck as others on this board would have you believe?

Absolutely not.

They clearly haven't seen TRUE crap.

Found Footage, and Paranormal Activity are one in the same.. This movie felt more like an early years episode of Supernatural more than A movie.. The movie left way too much to the imagination, with no real payoff.. I gave it A weak 5
