What's the point?

I don't want to sound like a negative Nancy and bring the general mood for this release down but what more could we possibly learn about the series that we didn't know from the 2004 box set, Crystal Lake Memories His Name Was Jason or the Deluxe Editions released in 2009? Why do horror fans keep letting themselves get milked for new or "better" releases of the same thing? I can understand the significance of a release of some kind in 2013 but unless it's the uncut gore we haven't see in new releases I think I'll pass because this just looks like something to compete with the Nightmare On Elm Street documentary.

Actually it's made by the same people who made Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy so it isn't just something to compete with it. And it's 7 hours long, so there must be something new!

reply

7 hours long to talk about a movie series that barely had enough of a plot to support one film let alone 11 (I'm not counting the remake)? I mean, don't get me wrong I'm curious and I will see it one way or another but like my subject line says what's the point?

reply

It'll be full of trivia that we DON'T know and anecdotes from behind-the-scenes. As a film buff, I'm buying it.

reply

What don't we know already though? A film buff? More like a Friday the 13th buff let's be honest. I know lots of film buffs and they wouldn't collect something just because it's available and most film buffs hate the slasher genre.

Friday the 13th buff then. I'm buying it. If you don't want to, don't. There'll be new stuff, there always is.

Given that it's 7+ hours long and has interviews with people who we've never seen interviewed before, I think it'll be worth it, but only time will tell.

If it were just another hour and a half documentary, I might not care much for it, because we already have His Name Was Jason... but 7+ hours? I would hope there's a few rare things we haven't seen yet in there!

What's the point? Seriously? For Friday the 13th fans this is gold. 7 hours? I'm there! Gonna be awesome.
