Allison O'Donnell's bad acting

I'm not talking about the last episode, but the series in general. She has this near constant 'nose wrinkle' expression on her face which suggests someone nearby has done a nasty fart. I have no idea what she's trying to achieve by it - puzzlement maybe, but like I say it's not situation dependent. It's just her standard expression.

Couldn't disagree more. I thought she has been brilliant and I love the character and I think she has done brilliantly. If you want to see how female cops can be done badly check out Kelly Reilly in Above Suspicion, now that is Bad. Alison is doing a grand job here, only my opinion for what it's worth I think she portrays the vulnerability beautifully, not some *beep* female copper with a strap on, just a girl doing a job.

She is a serious sally, but it beats acting like a serious samantha. I think maybe she could quit the nose wrinkle so often, but if she is really that dark, I'd like to see some sinister actions from her, maybe get more obscene or vulgar, it would add to character depth.

After reading Jack London, I'm not sure the connection between Shetland and The Call of the Wild? I've contacted Ann Cleeves via email and only to get an odd reply, she claims many novels have shaped and molded her work, but Jack London does have some influence in the Red Bones & Raven Black writings, I've yet to see it processed in the show.

Disagree. Love the character and the faces O'Donnell is pulling.

Her acting of the after-rape scenes was particularly sensitive.
Couldn't disagree more either. Especially, as in the quote above.

I think she's brilliant. I hope Perez will somehow persuade her to stay. If there's a 4th season I'm looking forward to see Alison O'Donnell and her http://i.imgur.com/A0JpUw6.png nose wrinkle expression ;)

I join the queue in favour of Tosh. Alison is great. Keep her in the series.

reply

Another pro-Tosh fan ringing in. Ms. O'Donnell may not be the star, but she makes the show for me.
Hope she sticks around!

My husband and I both love Tosh, and we can understand her! Keep her please, and don't discourage her.

I love Alison O'Donnell and the character of "Tosh." Her humor and timing are so refreshing as is her natural prettiness. Her chemistry with Jimmy is one of the best things about the series. I am so hoping they find a way to bring her back in Season 4!

I can see how the nose wrinkling might irritate some but that is what makes it great acting. Inserting real mannerisms or facets of individuality that occur with real people. Her character is consistent and just like in real life might rub people the wrong way.

She is a pull to the show for me, as other's have stated and as someone who works with trauma survivors, I feel that part of the show was handled very well.
