Season 4 to start production in early 2017

I read on the Shetland website that someone from Vancouver Island heard today that it has been given the green light for another season. Last month another member said that she had heard it on the BBC, but I haven't been able to find any official confirmation.

For those that are interested, here is a link to the Islands official website.
They have about 12 live streaming cameras set-up around Shetland, including, the Sumburgh Airport, Victoria Pier and the Lighthouse. Some have sound where you can hear the various birds and the ocean.

Hello! That was me that posted on the Shetland webcam site. I had found the original post under another topic on this board "Can I give you a wee hug", here is the link that I found posted there, I didn't want to take credit from the original poster, plus I was on my cell phone at the time and was having trouble trying to copy/paste it. Here's the link, or you can find it under the topic title I posted above.

Some folks are saying the BBC has NOT made a decision in regards to renewing the series, so I don't know now what to make of this first post found here, it looks to be for real, let's hope so!!

Shetland is also set to return for a fourth series, continuing BBC Scotland’s commitment to producing home-grown drama.

The series, inspired by Ann Cleeves’ crime novels of the same name, will return with 6x60’ episodes written by series one showrunner David Kane and produced by ITV Studios through BBC Scotland for BBC One. Douglas Henshall will return as DI Jimmy Perez, with other regular cast also returning.

Shetland will be Executive Produced by Gaynor Holmes for BBC Scotland and Kate Bartlett for ITV Studios. Filming will start early next year.
