The Goldbergs rip off...

That is all... everything about this show is a carbon copy of The Goldbergs... takes place in the 90s.... teen daughter teen son. I think another kid.. Blonde mom... I give it a month max.

To add insult to injury, the show is just a remake of $#*! My Dad Says, as it's also based on the same memoir by Justin Halpern about his father. Only instead of it taking place in more recent times with the main character as an adult, it's a Goldbergs-style flashback sitcom with a teenage protagonist.

Let's just say it is (though I disagree)...this is really funny. I was bored with the Goldbergs. Which is sad because I grew up in the 80s and like the cast members. I never could get into the other show but I abhor Shatner.

Actually it's a tv adaptation of I Suck at Girls by Justin Halpern. Which chronicles his 1st experiences with girls from childhood to adulthood. I like this character casting better that the $#*! My Dad Says version with William Shatner, wrong casting.

But if you like the book, which I did; then you will like the show, which I did.

I'm with moon630am, those crying rip off need to go read 'I Suck at Girls'. The plot for the porn mags was taken from the book verbatim, and the first driving experience may have also been there. Since Justin Halpern was born in 1980, it's hardly surprising the show is set in high school during the 90's.

If they can capture the wit and comedy in Halpern's books (which 'S@!& My Dad Says' failed to do spectacularly) then the show could be a winner. I thought the portrail of his Dad was far better this time!

What's The Goldbergs? Never heard of that show.

The Goldbergs doesn't take place in the 90's, it takes place in the 80's. Also, the kid is older on this show which changes a lot of the dynamic because the issues he will deal with will be different. I see the similarities between the two with the voiceover narration and the flashback to only a few decades ago, but they are pretty different otherwise. I personally like The Goldbergs better at this point but that's mainly because it's been on for the larger part of a season already.

You mean like the Wonder Years?

WHAAAAAAT???! A comedy about a typical American family with a mother, a father and teenage daughter and son in the suburbs? It's so creative, it just has to be a ripoff the Whatbergs! They basically invented family comedies. The blonde Mom is the deal breaker!

Of course the Goldbergs started only a few months ago and this was announced early September so I guess they just had a time machine and went back a few months to ripoff a show that hadn't started yet. You don't know a lot about tv production, do you?

The Goldbergs and Surviving Jack were developed during the same pilot season, so it's not a rip-off...the voiceover flashback aspect of the shows isn't anything original.
