Andy Serkis provided the only real fun in the movie.

Humor is a big part of Marvel's successful formula, it adds fun to the adventure and a change of pace that gives dramatic scenes more imoact.

So why make this film so dour?

reply

Ain't it the truth!

A big part of Marvel's formula for success is including humor and plain old fun. Which are markedly absent here, except for Serkis's little scene.

They brought the character back for "Black Panther", so I guess we aren't the only ones who liked him.

Are. You. Kidding. Me. This movie was literally overrun with stupid jokes. There was no room to let tone and mood breed.

I'm starting to think Marvel fans have an OCD obsession with jokes if this literal poster child of over done humor was described as "dour."

reply

I think we can agree that "AoU" wasn't overrun with *successful* jokes!

As to why Marvel fans like all those jokes, it's because they have senses of humor. Big DC fan, are you?
