Black Widow was great (spoilers)

when her and Banner have that touching conversation about how he can't have kids and that he is a monster. Then her explanation as to why she can't have kids and that she was made into a monster in her own.

I thought that was a touching connection between the two characters. Joss can really write I depth. To bad he's not on to the next one.

This page really does need more Natasha love. The character has been perfected over the past two movies. In AoU and Winter Soldier Soldier she has become the absolute best female character the genre has ever produced. It may not be saying that much considering but it's great to see.

She was great in Winter Soldier. To be honest, it was the first time I genuinely liked the character. All that went out the window in Ultron. There was zero chemistry between her and Banner. It all felt so forced, unnecessary, and cringe worthy.

Couldn't disagree more, so what makes you feel that way ?

I do agree, the two of them haveing a "relationship" i have no problem with, but it all seemed a little cheesey/off/forced/tagged on for whatever value,,, put it this way it wouldnt really have mattered if it was shown or not, and that to me makes it superfluous.

Just my opinion though everyones elses is a valid from their viewing .

SJ's eyes looked a little bongy though, cant say that ive noticed it before and she walks funny.

As if Bruce can't be interested in any other woman besides Betty?

reply

BB can be interested in anybody he likes , im just saying the whole thing regarding the two of them was a bit naff , like the writers were playing pair off , Stark and Potts , Thor and whatshername, Hawkeye and his missus Cap and himself now BB and SW , awww all cutey cutey. The "romancing" part was superfluous , and the lullabye premise was ridiculous not because of the result but because in the previous film BB made it pretty obvious that when he wants control he has it hence the " im always angry" line when BB turns up on the motorbike in the last film. The only time BB wasnt in control in this film was when the Witch had control everyother time BB had the upper hand hence the last scene of the Hulk jumping into the quin jet and having a time out....if the Hulk and rage is in control then that wouldnt happen.

Get my point ?

its not important either way its a film, just nitpicking because , for me , as these films progress they seem to get worse rather than better.

That may have been because she was pregnant at the time.

I agree. I hate the random and forced "relationship" between Bruce and Natasha. It was a total 180 from how they interacted with eachother in the first Avengers film.

Btw, the reason for SJ's eyes and walking funny is because she was pregnant at the time of filming this movie.

In Iron Man 2 she just seemed like a sexy ass-kicker. But then in The Avengers I remember being so impressed by how Joss turned her into an important and interesting character and they've only built on her since. She ended up being my favourite character in both Avengers movies.

her character is god awful. In Iron man 2 shes trying to seduce Stark (yes I know to infiltrate stark industries)

then in Avengers her and Hawkeye were a thing (that they retconned in AOU that they were just buddy soldiers)
Cap 2 she was trying to get with Cap
AOU shes with Hulk.

shes hoping from guy to guy to guy to suit the plot. She is terribly written and Peggy Carter is a far superior female role model and character.

Also in Winter Soldier, you see that in reality, she can't hang with the big boys. She runs away from the Winter Soldier like a coward, gets a minor flesh wound (all things considered having survived Invasion of New York, jumping and landing from impossible heights, surviving explosions, shockwaves etc) and then the Winter Soldier had her dead to rights and you saw her basically give up till Cap bailed her out.

You Panicked, and your weakness has cost the lives of three others!

I totally agree. She was meh in IM2, better in Avengers (but way overexposed), and then well balanced and likeable in Winter Soldier. Shame that they went backwards with her in AoU. Hopefully Civil War can make me like her again.

I will agree with the OP though that the particular scene with Bruce and Widow WAS actually great and added a nice layer to Bruce especially. Just wish the whole romantic subplot surrounding it hadn't made it out of the editing room. Ruins it imo.

She and Hawkeye were not an item in The Avengers. It's never stated, and I don't believe it was even implied that they were more than close friends. That's just fans making assumptions.

And she isn't trying to get with Cap in The Winter Soldier. She briefly flirts with him and kisses him just as a way to hide themselves in public.

Well she isn't hopping from guy to guy, so there's that. And she may not be the best role model but not every character is designed to be a role model. Of course Peggy is a better role model, but I think Natasha is a better character.

She doesn't run away from him like a coward. She confronts him directly, then she runs when she finds that she's clearly outmatched and that she's going to... you know, die. It isn't cowardly to run away from certain death. And being outmatched doesn't make someone a weak character as you seem to be implying.

Watching her play both sides in Civil War is going to be one of the treats of that film.

reply

I don't think it was even implied that they were all that close friends; Natasha owed him a lot of debt, and this was a way for her to pay it off. (We know, in hindsight, that they are close friends, but nothing in the first Avengers film required that to be the case.)

reply

It works even better for her character in Civil War. More and more depth.

reply

Let's just give her a Netflix 8 episode run like Stranger Things. Her pre-Avenger Red Room days.

reply

I just read she is the number one female costume for Halloween. Marvel is doing something right with the character if all chicks want to dress up as her young and old.
