The movie is not great...but.. is in general funny, in the mood of an italian comedy about small village people.
But the end is a VERY DRAMATIC turn point for me without justification...!!!
There are 1000 way to resolve this light comedy.
Is a pity.

I agree with you.
This movie started as a delightful comedy, but for some reason turned out to be one of the most dramatic films I've ever seen.
However, one of its biggest flaws for me is that we don't know how life went on for those on the island after the oldest priest's confession and the youngest priest's break down. It would have been interesting and maybe justified those many twists.
