Christina Ricci is great; the rest of the movie isn't.
Over the course of cinema history, there have been disproportionately few films that have made mother-daughter relationships their primary focus. The latest entry into this category comes in the form of Mothers and Daughters. Directed by Paul Duddridge, who also provided the concept for Paige Cameron’s screenplay, the film focuses on several women as they grapple with life-altering events, from sudden contact by the child they gave up for adoption to an unexpected pregnancy to the reveal of a major secret following the death of a family member. Unfortunately, the film falls flat in several aspects, resulting in a thoroughly middling feature at best. http://www.cutprintfilm.com/reviews/mothers-and-daughters/
