$50,000 paint job, yeah right

This is so over inflated it isn't even funny. He said $10,000 in materials. Again no way in hell. I know people who have done top end professional jobs and they do the doorjams, inner fenders, engine compartment and every nook and cranny, even stuff you will never see and doesn't even come close to this price.

$10,000 in materials is a joke and so was their labor qoute. These guys are basically a normal garage. Certainly not high end professionals and they are giving out qoutes like they are the absolute best people in the industry that put all others to shame.

Those people are straight up thieves trying to charge that type of money.

I know nothing about the real prices but the guy did agree to the $50,000 paint job after being warned about it and strangely bragged that 'money is no object' only to come back later after $36,000 work has been done now claiming they now can't afford it, That's crazy.

Oh I agree on that part. He was fully informed and agreed to procede. He certainly put them in a bad position but I also think the husband exploding and yelling and asking him to step outside was absolutely childish. He only did that because the guy was physically small and is in the business of donuts.

If he would of assaulted him the guy would own both a donut company and an auto repair shop.

Of course it is probably all fake anyway but within the premise of the show it is absolutely ludicrous that they 1) actually charge that much and 2) threaten customers with violence, even if the customer puts them in a poor financial position.

FYI, if you knew anything about paint (which you clearly don't), you'd know that candy paint jobs can exceed $150,000. They're typically just done on show/concours cars, and they never see the light of day, only car show fluorescents. And, as far as the scene itself is concerned, I was there. It was as real as real gets.

Don't insult real garages by calling a lube shop one. Lube shops are the low end of auto work and damn sure not a place to go to have any real work done. Only an idiot would buy a custom car from one.

So whats more fake that estimate or every other paint job o\n the show which only costs them $3000 even if its candy metal flake?

I've seen a lot of these "automotive reality shows" and almost all of these shows, motorcycles included, that they don't care about shop safety. I mean between guys welding and grinding with sandals on, not wearing safety goggles, damn I could go on forever. And here's a kid watching the show thinking its OK to walk around a metal shop with flip flops.. Morons!
