Is Australia the new South Korea?

There's been a few good movies coming out of Oz (does everyone call it that) in the last few years. This one, "These Final Hours", and "Tomorrow, When the War Began". All pretty good, from a technical perspective, but obviously low budget and with limited release world-wide.

Also, Australians are disproportionately represented in Hollywood, so there's a lot of talent there.

Maybe it's time entertainment companies set-up a Hollywood West and started making more movies set in Australia.

Hollywood West? Where did you get them from?

For a start, if you take the GMT line to be the middle as is the standard, Oz is on the far east side of the world compared to to the US. But anyway, the more obvious choice would be something like Wattlewood or something like that. Wattle is a common tree over there, Hollywood was named because of the Holly trees, and Pinewood studios in the UK was named because of the common Pine tree's in the area.

Hollies do not grow in California.

Tell that to my neighbors who have a male and a female holly tree on either side of their walkway.

Where ever you start from, if you go west long enough, you'll get to Australia.

When did South Korea made a good movie at all?

reply

When you don't know what you're talking about, it's best to just say nothing at all.
