The Divide or Murder in the First?

Ill admit, these 2 shows dont live up to The Killing or Broadchurch. But which do you prefer?

reply

Definitely The Divide. Murder in the First is pure painfully predictable soap opera. I dropped it quickly.

And AAMOF I hated The Killing and consider it appallingly overrated. In my opinion, this is far better.

Really?? See, I found the character study in The Killing fantastic!

reply

That's what turned me off of it. I could and did literally mouth almost every line before the characters uttered them. They were so stock, generic, especially the lead, and the dialogue was so painfully clichéd.

Every now and then, I'd check back in to see if this had got any better. It never did.

Criminal waste of the talented Mireille Enos.

The Killing was great!

I like The Divide better than MITF.

Didn't watch the The Killing or Broadchurch.

reply

The Divide by a huge margin. Murder in the First became ridiculous very quickly. The Divide strikes a very nice balance between being entertaining and realistic. And well acted all around.

reply

Definitely the Divide over Murder In the First.

I watched the Killing's first season but stopped after that it's not that I didn't like it. I thought it was billed as solving the murder over the course of a season and when that wasn't the case I stopped watching.

A little messed up but we're all alright.

Of the two, the Divide is a better made drama. Murder in the First is a shiny TV series made with beautiful people.

That said, post season 1, The Killing was a huge disappointment. Broadchurch for the most part was a snooze fest. The US version, Gracepoint looks even worse.

Was Broadchurch a BBC product? i never watched it.

I was pleasantly surprised to recognize Danny (Adam Rothenberg) from the BBCA program Ripper Street.

The Divide, for sure. First rate acting, writing and direction.

reply

The Divide is better. I was turned off by MitF when by Episode 3 Taye Diggs, who weighs about 150 lbs, was acting like Mr Macho Man beating up some random punk in a bar.

Anyway, The Divide covers a LOT - race relations, police corruption, class status, family dysfunction - AND basically most of the 7 deadly sins! It's rare to see a crime drama this complex. Too bad it's buried on the WE network. This is the show that deserved TNT and the media attention that came with it.

I agree. There are so many different themes in the show. I guess the many ways we can be divided. It really is a shame that the viewers aren't there for it.
