Forcing kids to have a vegan diet.

That's why I can't stand vegans. Those kids must be miserable.

reply

Not really. It's not a big deal. People have kids who are vegan and they are used to it since they have grown up that way. I grew up not eating red meat and still don't.

I speak my mind and if you don't like it then that's just too damn bad!!!

reply

How is it any different from "forcing" kids to eat meat? Kids eat what they are told to, they'll grow up thinking their lifestyle is completely normal.

reply

Humans are omnivores,so its natural to grow up eating meat, fruits, vegetables.Being vegan isn't natural. If kids grew up naturally in the woods, they won't come out being vegan. So you aren't forcing kids to eat meat.

I was thinking, is it healthy for a child to be vegan? Vegetarian is one thing but Vegans also don't drink or eat any thing diary which is something young kids should drink.Unless she feeds those kids her breast milk for eternity.

You're killing me and I'm already dead!!!

reply

Yes it can be perfectly healthy as long as the parents know how to give them the right nutrients and such. It's just the same as eating meat really; it all depends on the parents. Either diet can be healthy or unhealthy.

reply

Notice I put that in quotation marks though. I don't think either diet is necessarily forced. You may think it's natural whereas another family don't, or maybe they do and they just don't agree with eating meat and diary for ethical reasons. It's not cruel at all.

reply

I never get that about animal ethics people. Nature is cruel. I wish these people spent more time on the humans starving than animals.

reply

Well to each their own.

reply

Lots of kids are miserable because of things that are good for them. Diabetic kids who aren't allowed to have sugar, kids with food allergies, kids who are strapped into a car and can't move around.

reply

Well a medical condition isn't the same as forcing your kids to be vegan. And what does being strapped in a car have to do with anything? Its only for a limited time and its for safety.

I have a friend who was on a vegan diet until he was 13. His parents made a rule were they had to eat vegan until their 13th birthday and they could choose for themselves if they wanted to continue thereafter. His sisters and one of his brothers stayed vegan after they turned 13 but he and his older brother started eating meat. His mom had to slowly introduce meat into his diet so he wouldn't get sick.

According to him he loved growing up vegan, he just wanted to try something new. He was athletic and an all around normal healthy guy. Parents "dictate" their kids to go to school, what to wear, what to say and what not to say, and also what to eat and what not to.

Like another poster said to each their own. Why judge?

You HAVE to be joking. When I was a meat eater I didn't force my daughter to go on a diet that didn't include dog or cat meat, it's just something we didn't eat. Now we don't eat cow, pig or fish meat. Who cares?

I had a veggie-bacon BLT for lunch today, yesterday had spinach-mushroom piroshkis for lunch. we eat a lot of Mexican and Asian food. We certainly never want for anything savory and filling. I hate when people think we live on nuts and salad. We eat a wider variety and much tastier stuff than most of my family who live on chicken breasts or fish every single night, or the heavier ones who live on Hamburger Helper. There's no imagination there.

My daughter was on the wrestling team in middle school and now she's an active hiker. We don't go around measuring what we eat or being super careful and making sure we look for each nutrient. That's all myth. If you're vegan (no eggs or dairy) you need to seek out B12 but otherwise you're fine as long as you're eating food.
