Episode 7 - spoilers therein

Oh noes! Just as I was so happy to see what I had been waiting for since the beginning of the series - Denise taking up her uncle's shop and pitting herself (and the whole street of traders) against The Paradise, the preview for the next episode showed her back at her old post!!

Katherine becomes more and more unsufferable with her pushiness, but I can't really see how Moray could disentangle himself at this late stage.

I got some chills down my spine at Jonas' 'Don't trust anyone' speech to Dudley!

And Pauline is adorable as ever! Although her teeth compliment didn't quite rise to last episodes' "The birds, sir. Buttons - not fair!" it was still so funny and cute! :D Her scenes are often the ones I enjoy most. Oh, and when she was describing the perfume and started talking about babies!! :D My baby girl is 7 months old, so I totally got what she was going on about, but Katherine's face!! XD

David Bamber as the milliner is wonderful, so glad to see him again. He's lost weight since his Mr Collins days, but none of the scrumptious pompousness he does so well, he-he! A joy to watch! XD

Yes, really loved it! I like to see Denise working her way up in the world.
Am quite disappointed to see in the preview that she is going back to the paradise, I'm not sure why either. If its just because of her crush on moray that would be even more disappointing.

Yes, I admit I too found it rather disappointing that the next episode preview showed Denise back at the Paradise. I was hoping that the Moray romance would flourish as a result of Denise proving herself more than his equal and that this aspect of her character would be the driving force behind Moray's transformation - his character arc. It seemed to be heading that way with his confession to Denise regarding what really happened with his ex-wife and why he seems to do little to rebuff claims that he was responsible for her death. I was really hoping to see more of Denise as not only a beautiful woman but a capable woman who needs nor requires Moray's support to succeed. To finally shed the 'little champion' title and become a businesswoman in her own right.

*sigh* Yes, disappointing indeed.

I wonder how the story will resolve itself, there are only 9 episodes aren't there? Unless this is becoming the BBC's next period drama TV series (ala Lark Rise to Candleford) I think the next 2 episodes are going to be rather rushed to resolve all the plot threads that have been put in motion.

Moray and Katherine's seemingly inevitable car crash break-up
Moray and Lord Glendenning's financial arrangement
Denise and Moray's slow burn romance
Denise and Katherine inevitable jealousy driven conflict (hinted at in ep8 preview)
The murder of the Barber (also hinted in ep8 preview)
The fate of Denise's uncle and the other traders
The consequence of Clara's little visit to Moray's office

Any others I'm missing? Seems an awful lot to get through in 2 hours.

I'm not sure if it is entirely a bad thing that Denise is back at The Paradise. I'm thinking this will give Moray plenty of opportunity to realize he really loves her and not Katherine (insufferable character!).
In the scene where Denise kisses him, he is very quick to pick up on that kiss so there is definitely something there, but at the moment he is probably more confused than anything else. Also, I think that the fact that she is a mere shopgirl makes him hesitate. He is still so taken in with the social status and the money that Katherine can offer him.
But he needs to end that and he needs to end it NOW! What a spoilt and shallow character she is. She keeps talking about how perfect their marriage will be; five minutes as a married wife and I fear she will be bored. It's all a game to her. As her father hinted earlier on in an episode, it's like an obsession. She has set her eyes on Moray and now she must have him.
I also shuddered when she started talking about The Paradise as their joint responsibility.
No, let Denise show what material she's made of and let her sweep Moray and everyone else off their feet with her talent for business!

Unfortunately, I think we will have to wait until series 2 for most of the issues to be resolved. Still, I'm thrilled there will be a second series!

THIS^^
Totally agree!! Denise did all she could for her uncle but in the end the cooperation didn't work out and her uncle is truly hopeless. His shop will likely go back to what it was. Denise and Moray made amends and agreed upon a friendship. She has no reason not to go back anymore. Plus- Moray aside- she loves The Paradise.
And yes- this will definitely give her and Moray the advantage of being close together again- those little meetings in the evening will no doubt happen again.
Katherine is absolutely detestable... I really, REALLY don't like that woman!

Agree, I like those meetings.

I am so curious to find out how they are going to detangle Moray from the entire Katherine Glendenning business. If that relationship is going to end, it has to happen very soon. I really can't see how he can escape that marriage at this point without losing his face. It's gone too far for a clean break to be possible, unless perhaps she ends it? Or perhaps her father? He so very conveniently happened to ride by when Moray and Denise were walking together in the park.

I can't wait to watch next episode! But knowing there will be a second series, I'm afraid we will have to wait a very long time for a lot of the different issues to be resolved...

I love what you said there. Exactly what I mean, but you put it in words. :p

I thought there was only one more episode! I'm not sure how they will resolve these things or if they even will. They might have taken a gamble, and hoping that there would be a second season, have left some things unresolved.
I think that would be a good thing. I wouldn't have to be rushed through and we have something to look forward to for next series. Hoping for a good cliffhanger!
It will probably have something to do with Jonas or Moray's wife..
