Glad I just caught this on HBO.

This was a great movie! I caught it as soon as it started (a rare occasion am I right? ) anyways. Loved it. Right from the beginning it felt very real. Actually never have seen a movie that felt so real, it wasn't even like they were acting..which I guess actually says a lot about their acting! I only teared up when Ellen was leaving, going to college.
The only part I didn't like was when Eva was being mean to Albert saying she needed to get him a calorie book. Right in front of friends, people he didn't even know at that...I felt so bad and embarrassed for him, for real!!
Other than that, this movie was very good. I'd watch it again and recommend it to people :)

Well, Eva was brainwashed by her worshipful friendship with the self-professed
legendary poet Marianne ("Blessings!"), so her meanness was a result of that.
It was unfair of her to mock Albert in that way, just as it was horrible of Marianne to refer to him as a "loser" after he apparently provided her with the
beautiful house she now lived in, and also after he maintained a good relationship with their daughter.
Just one thing, though--knowing that his snooty ex-wife held him in contempt
for being a slob, could he at least have put on a decent polo shirt or something
when he invited Eva over, just to make a nice impression?

I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!

Great movie. Top 10 of 2013. JG should have been nominated. Only has a 7.1? That's crazy.

surprisingly riveting -- i enjoyed it and thought i wouldn't -- thought-provoking -- my only major criticism is the major plot twist that drove the whole second half of the movie was a bit ... unrealistic/cliched or whatever

I loved this movie. I've watched it several times actually and loved it each time. I have always watched anything James Gandolfini was in. It broke my heart when I heard he had died. I'm sorry I will never see anything new with him in it. I read somewhere that he was a terrific guy, and I'm sorry his son won't have him as he grows into an adult.

I just caught this on HBO, too. Fine film. Too bad James is gone now.

She's ruined my wedding. I will not look at her.
