When Eva goes to Albert's house at the very end of the movie, I think it would have been a really nice touch if she had made him gaucamole without onions in it as a present. What do you think?
shareYes, it was, Streets-behind. You're absolutely right. The scene was staged perfectly to make Eva look extremely desperate and needy. When Albert, after noticing her through his picture window, bends down to pick up a single dish, there was something so cold about it that I actually heard one or two people in the theater gasp. Then he emerges from his house and throws her the bone that he "sometimes drives by her house." Though he doesn't have to (and probably should avoid) making her feel good/welcome, he does it anyway, and the film ends ambiguously. We don't know if they'll get back together or simply remain separate but at least friends. Very classy ending in my opinion.
While the OP's idea of onion-less guacamole is cute, I think it's a little too cute and cliche for the mature nature of this movie. But I do think it would be cute if the ending called for a more conventional rom-com 'let's make up' conclusion.
I agree with you. The idea of the onion-less guacamole seems to be nice, but doesn't fit well with the nature of the movie.
As alternative, not at the ending scene, but very close to it, I would liked to see Eva eating onion-less guacamole at the Albert's manner, because sometimes we copy this kind of behaviour of our partner when we missed him/her. Well, it sounds like another cliche...put it on deleted scenes if you don't like it ;)
I also think it would have been nice at the end, if Eva was wearing the necklace Albert gave her. I noticed she was wearing her usual necklace.
