I really enjoyed it

Maybe it's because I went into this with low expectations but I really liked it. It's a really good popcorn horror/unintentional comedy.

Don't go in thinking it's going to blow your mind or even be scary because it isn't. You won't like anyone in the film (literally not a single person is likeable. The sound guy almost was but not quite) but that just makes it more fun to watch them die (mostly off screen as someone else said but they show enough to let your imagination handle the rest). Yes it has boobs (a couple scenes can only be described as soft core porn). I don't know how many plot holes or inconsistencies this movie has because I try my hardest to not notice them. I'm not watching a movie to criticize how it was made. I'm watching it to enjoy what they tried to make.

Also, I'm a huge fan of Grave Encounters and this movie was different enough from that that I didn't think about Grave Encounters once during this.

All in all I would probably watch this again. I was torn between a 6 and a 7 but ended up going with 7. So just sit back, smoke one (if that's your thing), and enjoy it for what it is instead of what it tries to be.

Here are a few of my all time favorite horror movies in case anyone wondered about my taste:

1408
House on Haunted Hill (1999)
13 Ghosts
Grave Encounters
Cabin in the Woods
Event Horizon (1997)
Pandorum (2009)

I normally don't like horror flicks but this one was fun. Agree that none of the characters were particularly likeable so their demise was no biggee. Just looked at Cabin in the Woods but I'm gonna try to take in all your recommendations over the holidays. HNY!

I liked it, too.

I think having expectations that are reasonable for a film that's made with limitations and a budget like I'm sure this one was is important. I thought it managed to be eerie, which is more than a lot of films can accomplish, movies with way bigger budgets. I think viewers just go in expecting something different, imho.

I didn't find the characters unlikable, except for all the supporting and tertiary characters that we were meant to specifically dislike. The lead was a bit frustrating at times, but I genuinely felt for the other two who kept going along with it. I thought they were believably put into the situation, motivated by money and not wanting to abandon the others. Their acting was pretty good for the found footage genre, which I find can sometimes be just terrible. The supporting characters were not so good, but they weren't featured much.

I really think people are being too harsh, I'd say this is worth checking out for certain kinds of film fans. I didn't even realize it was a Charles Band film, because it stepped out of Full Moon's usual MO. I'm a fan of those movies (if you succumb to their tone, they're enjoyable), but this wasn't the same kind of wacky gross-out horror. I think with slightly better effects this could have been considered a good indie horror. It reminded me a lot of the Blair Witch Project, except I found it scarier. BWP didn't really work for me, I felt more for these people and was more interested in their struggle.

This was totally cheesy and yet I was entertained. I look at movies like this as a movie not to be taken seriously. It's one of those late night comedies that attempt at horror but fail in a good way.

Here is a short list of horror movies that I found to be so bad it's good:

Reel Evil
House By The Cemetery
Amityville Haunting 2010 or 2011
Stupid Teenagers Must Die!
Ghost House
Stan Helsing
