Great Movie!!

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I quite liked it. In the beginning I was a little hesitant as I found the teacher kind of creepy. He didn't seem to have a peer group and seemed a little "off" to me (didn't find him hot at all). However as the movie progressed the dynamic between Molly and the teacher was great. I would recommend this movie to anyone. Very enjoyable.

Really liked it , too bad the lead never took her bra off in all those make out scenes lol

Liked it too. About the taking off her bra thing, I looked it up, the actress herself was only 18 when she did the movie, which is why she was so believable as a teenager. And also prob. why they didn't show anything too explicit.

yes, lovely film. full of persona.

Nicely made film. Lots to like really.
I've been in a similar situation myself so it brought back lots of memories. (p.s. don't lock me up! 6 years later we are still good friends)

Interesting movie, good actors and lots of tension.

The teacher's refusal to sleep with Molly was kind of weird though, like if it would have been changing anything at that point.

Also, it would have been interesting to see the entire scene with Molly and the director and why he began to suspect a romance between Molly and her teacher.

I think the point was that he was genuinely a nice guy and not a predator. He actually liked her for who she was (or was in love with her) and it wasn't just about sex.

The director said she deliberately set out to show how a relationship like this could be a love story, not just a tale of predation/victimisation.

So these are two young people falling in love, just a couple of years too early than currently considered culturally appropriate.

A good parallel from an era when such a pairing was considered okay is Margie (1946) starring Jeanne Crain. In that film even her grandmother approves of her teacher's fondness for her, and he's quite open about it.

Yeah, it was kind of tragic how it didn't follow through, didn't consummate. One of the points of the movie was that culture just repeats its mantras without even knowing their meaning at all. No one questions why it's considered so evil for a charming young man and a pretty young girl to romance each other. Don't forget, this is only deemed wrong for a very, very recent sliver of our history. This romance wasn't sleazy; it was sweet. If only he'd believed in it a little more and didn't listen to propaganda.
