Hahaha

"I've interviewed thousands of people who have experienced what you're going through."

Ummmm have you been interviewing people about this since you were a little kid? Maybe journalists or bloggers or writers or researchers are people who interview people on NORMAL and COMMON experiences/topics in life interview "thousands" of people in just one lifetime during their career. But for this person to be in the alien business, suuuper doubt you'd interview thousands of people about this!! Who have experienced it.

Like is this all you do? Or all he's done as an adult? Even then it seems difficult to believe at his age he'd interview that many people dealing with aliens. Stupid line in the script. I honestly don't think the writers thought enough about that one line. I would have bought "I've interviewed hundreds" way more than 1,000's. Even hundreds seems like a lot but is much more believable and realistic sounding. And what the heck else did those "other cases" he had heard about actually do to keep the aliens from taking someone from their family? He said he had heard about some cases where that happened but it wasn't common. Well aside from what this family did I am literally at a loss to what other people possibly could have done differently or better? Guns didn't scare them/couldn't hurt them. Locks and boarding up doors and windows will not work, ever. Sooooo ?

And also the line about other cases being able to avoid it. So some gray aliens suck at abducting while others are pure baddassary and this family got stuck with the badass ones who never fail, not the duds who give up if they see the family fighting back a little? Maybe the ninja aliens dropped Jesse off with the duds, to go back to earth and capture new people, because clearly the ones he was with were nice enough to leave him his walkie talkie so he could communicate (somehow) to earth to say hi to Sammy.

And movie, next time you want it seemingly be a big twist that the aliens will take Jesse and not Sammy, have the mom tell the people in the 60's house, "My son used to be sick all the time when he was young, it was almost like he was allergic to the whole world." And have the husband say "Remember when he was sick when he was born" (etc etc story story) don't say "My oldest son, Jesse" and "Remember when Jesse was sick when he was born."

Most smart people will put it together before the last scene that Jesse, will indeed be the one taken, and was in contact first with the aliens. Not Sammy. And what mother doesn't notice her kid drawing pics of him and aliens and not remember that sooner, or piece together from what alien master man told her about sickness and contact with aliens first. Was Sammy her favorite or something? lol.
